Dr. Mark Faries attended Cornell University Medical College, did both his internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and completed his fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Mark Faries, MD has also served as an associate professor at the Yale School of Medicine.
Dr. Faries specializes in melanoma and cutaneous oncology. He leads several clinical trials, including the Multicenter Selective Lymphadenectomy (II) trial, which includes thousands of patients throughout the world. Mark Faries, MD has also served as a member of the AJCC Melanoma Staging Committee and Melanoma Guidelines Committees of the Society of Surgical Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the European Society of Medical Oncology.
Mark Faries, MD has overseen clinical trials that have included over 6,000 patients and has been awarded substantial research funding by the National Cancer Institute and the Department of Defense. He was the first surgeon in California to perform minimally invasive inguinal lymph node dissections. He established a Food and Drug Administration - certified cellular immunotherapy lab, and has published over 250 manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters. He has given invited lectures in over a dozen countries on five continents.
In addition to his role at The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, Mark Faries, MD serves Professor of Surgery and as the Associate Director of Surgical Experimental Therapeutics, Cedars-Sinai Department of Surgery at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
